We’re thrilled to share some exciting updates at Surf + Sand! Three years ago, we set out to create a beautiful space in the heart of our beloved town—a place where fashion, coastal vibes, and a mission-driven lifestyle could come together.

I am so excited to announce Janis Ganaden as the new owner of Surf + Sand.  Janis will continue what I  started and carry on the success of Surf + Sand! Janis is a perfect fit for Surf + Sand. I know you will be in great hands and I’m so excited for all that is to come! Thank you for continuing to be a part of Surf + Sand!

Meet Janis:

Our new owner, Janis, is a Kaua’i girl born and raised, so she literally grew up in the Surf + Sand.  As a small island girl relying on the natural resources around her daily, Janis has a deep-rooted appreciation and respect for land and sea.  Sustainability is inherent in her being. Janis, a graduate of the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM), also has a keen eye for fashion, especially sharing what she likes with others. Incorporating her work experience in buying & planning as well as accounting, it has always been a dream for Janis to have her very own fashion-forward boutique with roots in sustainability - a platform to share her passion with others, all the while taking care of Mother Earth and providing for her three children. 

 As Surf + Sand transitions from Lauren to Janis, loyal patrons and new customers alike can be rest assured that Janis will continue the mission that Lauren has started and will bring with her the “Kaua’i style” and “Aloha spirit” that will infuse a new energy and vibe into Surf + Sand.  

Please note Surf + Sand will continue to operate as it always has. All gift cards and custom codes will continue to remain in place.

Our founder and owner, Lauren grew up in a small surf town in Southern California where she spent her days at the beach and in the ocean. Her heart’s passion for the spirit of coastal culture led her on a journey to open up Surf + Sand— a conscientious curation of sustainably made goods for personal style and home. After 16+ years of working for start-ups in the advertising, tech, and non-profit sectors, she decided to take the ultimate leap and followed her dream to start her own business.
