The Story.
I call it California nostalgia … Many ask what sparked my line. It came from the idea of making daydreams and memories a reality. I design every piece from start to finish. My mind holds a plethora of memories and flashes of images I keep in the treasure chest of my brain + incorporate into my brand. As a native Californian who appreciates design, I hold the true beauty of nature close to my heart.
I embrace spreading good with intention through my brand. I have always had an affinity and appreciation for visual impact and influencing others through my aesthetic. I originally started EKD beading poolside the Summer of 2020 in Sonoma as a way to share something light and positive. I recognized the popularity and diverse markets my bracelets touched, so I evolved into my brand using my logo I created in college, stemming from my monogram. My affinity for fashion, interiors, and art are all intertwined into the brand. I still practice interior design in a boutique style … ekdinteriors.com .
Inspired by beauty. Curated with intent. Timeless aesthetic.
My passion for nature keeps me grounded and calm. An appreciation for the healing properties of natural stone inspire the bracelets, as a collector of crystals, rocks, and fossils. The idea of a refreshed, quality, timeless wardrobe inspires the clothing. I draw inspiration from natural beauty: A shell or rock I find on the beach, the color of one of my chicken’s eggs, the smell of orange blossom, my cat or dog’s fur, crystals, food, music, architecture, art, film, memory … it all has inspired the palette, texture, and designs of EKD. I also want the clothing to feel good. It brings me joy that I can spark inspiration in someone’s wardrobe through my aesthetic but also through feelings.
The brand is intentional. As a California native I identify EKD with a California lifestyle. I bead everything by hand (sometimes with the helping hand of my husband) in our airy, sundipped home and garden. After designing and sourcing for my clothing collections, the pieces are all made in Los Angeles. The clothes have a deep focus on elevated simplicity and quality for a timeless addition to the wardrobe. All pieces are carefully designed and curated. Hence the mantra:
Inspired by beauty. Curated with intent. Timeless aesthetic.
